In this episode of the Escape Diet Prion I am joined by Victoria Welsby.

Victoria is a body image activist, confidence expert, Adjunct Professor at UBC and TEDx speaker. She went from being homeless, abused with self esteem that was achingly low into the courageous fat activist and change maker she is today. Victoria helps people fall in love with themselves and is dedicated to changing the way society views fat bodies.

We talk about how being fat doesn’t equate to immediately dying from several diseases (d’uh), how to love your fat body, trauma around food and having access to food and shame around your body size. We also discuss how to deal with critics who tell you that fat acceptance is dangerous, power mantras and how to not care about what people think of you, fatphobia and how people pretend to be concerned about your health.

Victoria then shares more about how to respond to people who fat shame you, marginalized bodies, using the term “fat” and what is still missing in the conversation around fat, food and weight.

We examine the political aspects of being fat and confident as well as the fact that it’s totally OK to use food as comfort and how you can get from using Intuitive Eating as another diet to eating with total freedom and no rules.

And much much more.
