People judge.

I’ve written about it before.

They will judge you – no matter your shape or size.
They will judge you – no matter your profession or chosen lifestyle.
They will judge you – no matter your chosen partner or relationship status.
They will judge you – no matter who you are or what you’re all about.
They will judge you – that’s what they do.

The thing to remember is though that this is your life.
Your one wild life.

This is your existence.
Your one go at creating a life that is YOURS.

What you do with your life is YOUR choice –

Not theirs.
Not his.
Not hers.

You’re the one who’s walking in your shoes.
You’re the one that is needed to step it up.
You’re the one who decides whether you take steps back or walk to your next crossroads.

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in what they think.
In how they perceive you.
In what they have to say about who you are.

But in the end,
or rather at the very beginning,
you have to ask yourself,
If you really care.

If this person says your choices are crazy –
If that person says you took the wrong turn –
If he says that you’re ruining your life –
If she says that she doesn’t agree –

Does it really matter?

If it feels right to you?

If you know it to be true?

If you know in your heart of hearts that this is the road for you?

And even if you don’t –
even if you doubt
and are scared
and can’t really decide –

Who are they to tell you what’s right or wrong?
Who are they to tell you what’s good and bad FOR YOU?

Have they walked in your shoes?
Lived your life?
Seen the world through your eyes?

Even if you feel queasy
and are yet to decide –

Who are they to judge?

The thing is that the people who judge the most are those that are unhappiest with their own lives.

So, really,
you’re just a reflection of their own unfulfilled souls.

And instead of taking their words and turning them against yourself,
use them to heal
yourself
this world
supporting them in healing themselves.

As – no matter what you do –
they will talk
they will gossip
they will have stuff to say.

And most of what they say
won’t apply to you,

But to them.

It’s their insecurity speaking.
It’s their bias speaking.
It’s their narrow minded view of life,
this world,
YOU
showing up for real.

Don’t let them hold you back.
Don’t let them tear you apart.

Cry,
of course.

Hurt,
of course.

But then,
dust yourself off and do what you’ve always known was right for you.

And even if you don’t know just yet,
turn inward,

not to “them” –

whoever they are in your life
and whoever they represent.

The moment you let go of “they”
that’s the moment you begin to walk to freedom.

That’s the moment you begin to arrive in your own shoes
and finally admit that you’ve known all along.

That checking in with yourself
that following your gut
that shaping your life based on your dreams
based on your unique experience
is the biggest gift you can give yourself

and them.

Because you’ll be happy –
which one of my clients said the other day is life’s purpose anyway,

If there ever was one.

The happier you are, the more you’ll uplift the spirits of others

And by God, we need happy people in this world.

And I know, I know what you’ll say:

Isn’t it effin’ selfish to be happy?
Shouldn’t we be more concerned with others?

To which I reply: who says that happy people don’t care about others?

Aren’t happy people those that contribute the most?
Those that love the most?
Those that care the most?

Because they are happy and can give from a full cup,
an “I love life and I want to share the joy and bliss with you” cup?

Doesn’t a positive spirit,
positive energy,
uplift this world instead of adding more sorrow and heartache to this grey, dark planet we have created?

A planet that is so full of beauty,
of miracles,
of a lust for life that is hard to describe?

Don’t we owe it to this world to be happy and in awe?

And the best way to get there is to just say Screw Those Who Don’t Understand My Life.

In a loving and happy way
of course.

In a way that supports us all
in creating a life that works
for us.

They won’t be happy with you
because they’re not happy.

You won’t be happy with them
because you’re you
and you want more.

You want to live a life based on your values
and go your unique path.

You want to follow your gut
and base your days on flow.

You want to spread joy
and be the best person you can be.

For yourself
and for all.

But,
and that’s a big but,
you can’t
won’t
will never be

happy
in flow
living from your core

if you listen to “them”
base your choices on “them”
allow “them”

to shape your decisions
even make them for you

out of fear of
what?

More judgement?

The terror that you cannot do it alone?
Without the people who don’t like you
the true you
anyway?

Well, I know you can do better than that.
You can surround yourself with people who love you
your spirit
your core
your soul

and don’t try to change you
into a version of themselves –

one they’ll eventually
meaning today
judge too.

Be yourself.
Be yourself.

Be Yourself.

And trust
trust
trust

In your ability to do what’s right for you.

If you make a wrong decision,
choose again.

There’s nothing you can’t change.
Nothing you can’t turn around again.

At least you’ll have made the decision
from your heart
from your core
from the place inside that knows

And if you do
nothing will go wrong.

Because you’ll be true
to you.

So, walk in your own shoes –
let them walk in theirs
knowing that you don’t know what it’s like to wear their sneakers
and they have no idea what it feels like to walk in your heels.
